Feature: Why do you support so many fingerprint sensors?
There are pros and cons in the features of different fingerprint sensors. One sensor can be good for one application but may be inappropriate for another application. With Suprema solutions, you can test different sensors and choose a right one by yourself or we can recommend a suitable one fitting your applications. We present you with flexibility and stability for the success of your business. For more details, please read the guide for Selection of Sensors.
Feature: What is EER, FAR, and FRR?
EER means "Equal Error Rate" which is an error rate when FAR is equal to FRR. In our module, FAR can be controlled by setting "security level" parameter, 1/10,000 to 1/100,000,000. FRR varies with each FAR. For example, when setting FAR at 1/100,000 as default, FRR is roughly around 1%.

Ordering: How long will it take to deliver?
It depends on the quantity but usually one week for small quantity up to 100units is expected for small quantity up to 100 units. For the lead time of a bigger quantity, please contact Sales team of Suprema.
 
Others: Distribution Policy
Basically, we prefer non-exclusive distributing policy as the fingerprint market is not mature. Instead, after contracting distributorship agreement, we protect his accounts and offer favourable marketing conditions such as discounted price. Upon your interest, we are open to making a negotiation to achieve mutual benefit.

Feature: Difference between SFM3000 & SFM3500
SFM3000 & SFM3500 have both been available according to your request. Let me explain how they are different. In case of SFM3000, it supports 3.3V CMOS level serial communication and you can interface it with your host. On the other hand, SFM3500 supports various communications environment such as RS232/RS422/RS485 including Wiegand interface and log management capacity. Using this module, you can interface serial communication with external device without external host. Both modules offer different types of fingerprint sensors from optical, capacitive, e-field until swipe sensors.

Feature: What is the fingerprint embedded module?
This consists of fingerprint sensor and process board. When placing the finger on the sensor, the captured image is stored into internal memory of the process board. As fingerprint modules offered along with various sensors can communicate with external devices through diverse interfaces, you can apply it to door-lock, safe, POS, A/C & T/A and so on.
 
Installation/ Setup: Fast Mode
For large fingerprint templates identification, we recommend you our Fast Mode function. Using this function, you can shorten the 1:N matching time up to 10 times with little degradation of authentication performance. It consists of 5 modes but it's not significant for small fingerprint templates.
Installation/ Setup: Battery System Operating for Door Lock
You just add our fingerprint module to your board and it will work the fingerprint authentication through serial communication with your host. When you adopt our fingerprint module to your existing digital door-lock or safe, you can control the power supply on the fingerprint module. In idle stage, host cuts the power but our fingerprint module will wake up in less than 200msec when user press start button outside.

Usage: How can I interface with the SFM3000/3500 modules?
SFM modules can be interfaced by serial, GPIO, RS422/485 and Wiegand. For serial interface, you can communicate with SFM modules using a packet protocol. For example, if you send a command to enrol with a certain ID, the module will capture fingerprint from sensor, register its data to the internal flash memory and return the result (success or fail). If you send a command to identify, the module captures fingerprint from sensor, finds if it matches to any registered data, and reports the result (identified ID or fail) to you.

GPIO interface is simpler. For instance, if you send a digital input to a certain GPIO port of the module using a button or something, the module initiates enrol process. If you send a digital input to another GPIO port, the module initiates identify process. If success, the module can activate a digital output signal to a certain GPIO port that may be connected to LED, beeper or lock. In this way, you can customize a simple fingerprint authentication system without additional controller. RS422/485 and Wiegand input/output are also supported.

Please note that the signal level of SFM3000 modules is 3.3V level. So, external level conversion circuit is needed for RS232, RS422/485, and Wiegand interface with SFM3000. On the contrary, SFM3500 modules' signal level is 5V and is equipped with RS232, RS422/485, and Wiegand interface by default without additional circuits.

Yes you can. Evaluation board is compatible for different modules and sensors.

Feature: What development tool does your SDK support?
Because our SDK is standard Windows DLL, it can be easily used in Visual C, Visual Basic, .Net, and .Net Basic.
 
USB Scanner: What type of scanner do you support?
We support stand-alone fingerprint scanner (BioMini) and USB fingerprint OEM module (SFU300) without casing.
 
SDK: How can I couple our DB programming with your SDK?
The size of fingerprint template is only 384 bytes, and it can be stored in Access DB as string data.
